常用用法

appreciate的基本意思是“高度評(píng)價(jià)某事物”,可表示對(duì)某事物理解深刻而能鑒賞或欣賞其價(jià)值,特別是美學(xué)價(jià)值,有時(shí)還可表示非常喜歡、非常感激的意思。引申還可表示“增值”。
appreciate作“感激”“重視”“體會(huì)到”解時(shí),是及物動(dòng)詞,可接名詞、動(dòng)名詞(但不接動(dòng)詞不定式)作賓語,也可接that從句?？捎糜诒粍?dòng)結(jié)構(gòu)。appreciate作“增值”解時(shí)是不及物動(dòng)詞,作“使增值”解時(shí)是及物動(dòng)詞。
appreciate后可接that從句。美國(guó)人習(xí)慣在appreciate后直接加that，而英國(guó)人則習(xí)慣在that前加上the fact。I appreciate that the plan has worked well.I appreciate the fact that the plan has worked well.
appreciate后不可接不定式，可以接動(dòng)名詞。He appreciates being advised. 他很感激得到了建議。
有時(shí)，appreciate后帶動(dòng)賓語it最好不討省略掉。I shall appreciate it if you will give me his address.
公文里常習(xí)慣用It is appreciated that…和It will be appreciated that…的表達(dá)方式，不過有人認(rèn)為可以省略。I appreciated that you have accomplished the task. 可改成You have accomplished the task。

這組詞的共同意思是“高度評(píng)價(jià)某事物”。其區(qū)別是：
1.appreciate強(qiáng)調(diào)理解并欣賞其價(jià)值; value強(qiáng)調(diào)高度評(píng)價(jià)并珍視其價(jià)值; prize指珍視; treasure指珍藏。
2.cherish與prize和treasure含義相同,指珍視或珍藏,但喜愛之意更甚。

這組詞都有“明白”或“理解”的意思。其區(qū)別在于：
1.see的基本意思可指一般視覺的“看見”,也可指有意識(shí)地“觀察”,引申可表示由觀察而“領(lǐng)會(huì)”“理解”。
2.comprehend指用智力充分而完全地理解事物的內(nèi)在含義。例如:
The child read the story but didn't comprehend its full meaning.那孩子看了這篇故事,但沒有理解它的全部意思。
If you can use a word correctly and effectively you comprehend it.如果你能正確、有效地使用一個(gè)詞,你就是了解它了。
3.understand則是明白別人說的話,完全了解某種事實(shí)。例如:
My wife doesn't understand me.我的妻子不理解我。
I've read the letter but I don't understand it.這封信我已經(jīng)看過了,可是看不懂。
4.appreciate指對(duì)某物有較深的理解能力,強(qiáng)調(diào)“欣賞”。例如:
She appreciated a work of art.她欣賞一件藝術(shù)品。
I am incapable of appreciating classical music.我不會(huì)欣賞古典音樂。

這兩個(gè)詞都有“欣賞”的意思。其區(qū)別是：
1.appreciate指能鑒定其優(yōu)劣,品評(píng)其價(jià)值,而enjoy則只是得到感官或精神上的樂趣或滿足。例如:
She appreciated a work of art.她欣賞一件藝術(shù)品。
They all went to enjoy the cherry blossoms.他們都去觀賞櫻桃花了。
2.appreciate指對(duì)某物有較深的理解能力,而enjoy則不需要有較高的修養(yǎng)和理解水平。例如:
I think everyone enjoyed your wonderful party the other night.我想大家都欣賞那天晚上你舉行的精彩的晚會(huì)。
I am incapable of appreciating classical music.我不會(huì)欣賞古典音樂。
3.appreciate還可用于感謝、感激,而enjoy則沒有此義。例如:
I appreciate your help.我感激你的幫助。
I really appreciate your advice.真是感激你的忠告。
