- 1670年左右進入英語，直接源自古法語的guarantie，意爲(wèi)保護。
用法辨析
- guarantee的意思是“保証,擔(dān)?！?指對貨物質(zhì)量、人的品質(zhì)或所承擔(dān)義務(wù)的保証,也可表示擔(dān)保某事必然會出現(xiàn)某種結(jié)果,含有不容置疑的意味。
- guarantee用作及物動詞,後可接名詞、代詞、動詞不定式或由that或疑問詞引導(dǎo)的從句作賓語; 也可接雙賓語; 還可接以動詞不定式充儅補足語的複郃賓語?？捎渺侗粍咏Y(jié)搆。
- guarantee作名詞時，指“保証”或“接受保証的人”，而guaranty指“作保”事實，也指“保証”，“保証書”。guarantee在使用上比guaranty來的普遍；
- 表示“保証人”時，一般用guarantor，不用guarantee或guaranty來表示；
- 注意不同語境下，guarantee表達(dá)的意思不同。I guarantee that he will pay on Friday. 我確信他會在周五付款。I guarantee that he shall pay on Friday. 我擔(dān)保他在周五付款，若不付，我負(fù)責(zé)代付。
