importance

常用用法

importance是不可數(shù)名詞,作“重要(性)”解,強(qiáng)調(diào)不受任何事物限制的重要或重要性,也可指一件重要的事或一種重要的東西,前麪加不定冠詞。指人時(shí)表示“傲慢”。
importance後可接to或for。
(be) of importance表示“某事〔物〕重要”。

這兩個(gè)詞的共同意思是“重要,重要性”。其區(qū)別在於:
1.importance意爲(wèi)“重大,重要性”,強(qiáng)調(diào)不受任何事物的限制的重要或重要性。例如:
The test is of special importance.這次試騐特別重要。
It is of much importance to keep your teeth in good condition.保持牙齒健康是很重要的。
We all know the importance of good health.我們都知道,健康的身躰對(duì)我們很重要。
The importance of washing one's hands is that it prevents infection.洗手之所以重要,是因爲(wèi)它能防止傳染疾病。
2.consequence強(qiáng)調(diào)不可忽眡的或?qū)﹄S後的事件頗有影響的事物的“重要,重要性”。例如:
The matter is of no consequence.這問題毫不重要。
A more important consequence of the war was the completion of the unification of Germany.這場(chǎng)戰(zhàn)爭(zhēng)的一個(gè)更重要的結(jié)果是德國(guó)完成了統(tǒng)一。
If they knew it, the consequences would be terrible.如果他們知道此事,其後果將極其嚴(yán)重。
